When Calvin Bradley Jr. came to the Wildwood Lifestyle Center for an 11-day program, he was dealing with inflammation from a torn meniscus in his knee after a military career that included service in Vietnam. This problem was made worse by his lifestyle habits. At 252 pounds, Calvin says “I was obese from following man’s plan of finger-lickin' chicken that will eventually lick you.”

In May 2008, Calvin was unable to get out of bed without crutches. The previous year his wife had been a guest on our lifestyle program and had experienced physical healing and spiritual growth.  “My wife kept telling me," said Calvin, "‘Go to Wildwood. Go to Wildwood!’”

Before coming to our June program, he cut out all meat from his diet and had lost 12 pounds bringing his arrival weight down to 238 pounds. “When I came in on the first day, my first thought was, ‘I’m going to love this.’”

Calvin had been a cross-country runner but hadn’t been able to run since 2002. He prayed that he would be able to jog the day before leaving the program. After 8 days of exercise, he lost another 11 pounds, bringing his weight down to 227 pounds upon leaving. Just before his departure, he jogged for the first time in 5 years.

“The entire experience has been reviving, physically and spiritually. I’ve gotten healthier, and I’ve gotten back to having daily morning devotions” Calvin said. “To anyone thinking about coming to the program, I say Come! Focus on God and His plan. If you follow His plan, you can’t go wrong.”
